Monty Trainer is a true Miami icon.
As the president of the Coconut Grove Arts Festival he is not only the most visible, but also the most involved person in Coconut Grove. He sits on countless boards including the Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce and the Coconut Grove Business Improvement District. Monty opened up the first seaside restaurant in the City of Miami, “Monty Trainer’s” and although he has since sold it and it has undergone several make-overs, it still bears his name. “Monty’s” is known for their great view of Biscayne Bay and the docks as well as a phenomenal raw bar. It boasts one of the best and most happening Friday happy hours in the City. Monty’s mark can easily be seen thought the City and Coconut Grove.

Welcome to the South Florida Seafood Festival. When you arrive to the Festival, you’ll see why I fell in love with Coconut Grove. The breeze off the bay and the shade of the trees helps make this the most unique neighborhood in Miami. October is one of the best months of the year to be in Coconut Grove. Not only is the weather beautiful and mild, but stone crab season opens on October 15th! Seafood fans from all over come to Miami to be some of the first to enjoy the early batches of stone crabs – and we’ll have them at the Festival. In addition we’ll have plenty of other seafood to keep your appetite at bay.

I invite you to not only enjoy the Seafood Festival, but also enjoy everything the Grove has to offer. Take a stroll around our tree-lined streets and explore the quaint and unique shops the Grove has to offer. I am confident that you’ll find yourself coming back to the Grove time and time again.

Enjoy the fresh seafood, live music and family fun at
The South Florida Seafood Festival!
